Today I wanted to write a little about the two most confused areas. It is true that the responsibilities of these areas vary from company to company, so it is not enough to know them specifically. But once you know the main difference, you can almost decide in which field to progress.

Product designers are involved in the entire design process of a product, while UX designers focus more on the hands-on design portion of the process. This means both are expected to know how to use common UX tools, like Balsamiq, Sketch, Lucid Chart, or design tools like Figma. But sometimes they’re not. Broadly speaking, product designers tend to be more involved with the entirety of the design process of a product, while UX designers generally focus specifically on refining the user experience of a product.

Characteristics that show a sharp change

The best conclusion we can draw from this is that Product designers think more business-oriented. UX designers, in contrast, focus on the relationship between people and the design they make, rather than the product’s market value, sales, and how much funding it will get.

Well, what should we pay attention to in order to become a UX designer or Product designer? In addition to these, the most interesting question is what should be paid attention to in order to transition from Ux design to Praduct design?

UX designers are more design focused.UX designers are more design oriented and their focus is on how well the relationship between people and design is. Of course, the most important thing is to improve it.Nevertheless, we cannot say that the Praduct designer did not pay attention to this. However, while Product designer focuses on the practical solutions of the product, the UX designer focuses more on the practical solution of the product from the design aspect.

UX concepts and skills: UX designer would also include being able to prototype, build wireframes, or map user journeys or user flows. These skills will also be foundational for your work as a product designer.

Design tools and principles:· UX designers should generally be familiar with several design tools. These can include Figma, Sketch, and Adobe Creative Suite. A strong understanding of design principles — like typography and color theory — will also be an asset.

Moving from a UX designer to a product designer can be a natural transition as you gain more experience and begin to take on more responsibilities.

Product designer is more business oriented. Therefore, many companies expect him to manage the team and finish the process properly. That’s why you need to stand out from the team by developing your proper management skills rather than the ability to work with a team.

Collaboration across different teams: Since the product designer is expected to manage the process properly, it is important to have a close relationship with the developer, visual designer, UX and UI designers. Being in touch with many other departments of the company, not just with the design team, helps him create a better product.

In addition, it can be said that most of the desired skills are similar in both.
